Bathroom Remodel

A bathroom remodel can be as simple as updating the fixtures and tile you hate or as complex as gutting the entire room and making structural changes to make it functional.

Before you talk to us about a bathroom remodel, it helps to put together lists of your needs and wants.

What You Need

More space for people or storage? Water-wise fixtures that function properly? Better lighting?

What You Want

For the brown tile to go back to the ’80s? To replace the tub you never use with a larger shower? Two sinks instead of one? In-floor heat for chilly mornings?

Next, consider the extent of your remodel. If you want to make structural changes and move walls, you will likely need a general contractor. We work with licensed plumbers and electricians, so we can help you plan reconfigurations in your bathroom and our crews make them for you without needing a GC.

A bathroom facelift with a new vanity (or vanities), plumbing fixtures, tile, and lighting might give you the bright, functional space you’re looking for without a huge financial and time commitment. If your project ends up involving a general contractor, we can work with your GC to ensure a smooth selection process for your finishes.

You should also think about budget. If you have an amount you are shooting for, we can help you work what you need and want into what you’re comfortable spending. It might involve some compromises along the way, but we have led homeowners with very small remodeling budgets to new bathrooms that they love.

A Note on Bathroom Flooring

A bathroom by nature is a wet environment. As such, we don’t recommend using hardwood, engineered wood, or laminate flooring. Carpet in a kids’ bath? Never. In a master bath? Maybe. But natural stone, porcelain, ceramic tile, or vinyl? Bring it on! Our designers can help you choose the best material and style for your room.

A Designer’s Role in a Bathroom Remodel

When you are starting to get an idea of the scope of your bathroom remodel project, make an appointment to come see us. (Don’t forget to bring your lists.) We will get to know you and understand what you’re hoping to accomplish. One of a designer’s roles is to offer friendly guidance and direction to help you get the results you want and a bathroom you love. We’ll tour you around the showroom to give you a feel for what’s available and let us see what you like and don’t like.

We will then schedule a meeting at your home so we can see the project in its before state. We’ll take measurements and photos and ask a lot of questions so we can create a general budget for you based on the results you want and the amount you are comfortable spending.

Next, it’s back to the showroom where you’ll choose your vanity and countertop, wall tile, and flooring from our showroom based on the general budget. For your plumbing fixtures, and lighting, you will make your selections through catalogs, our subcontractors, and our local trade partners. We will finalize everything to give you your total cost.

We will take care of all the installation, so we will create a timeline with milestones for getting the work done. We will also ensure that the subcontractors stay on schedule and complete quality work so your new bathroom is complete when we tell you it will be.
